Spinal Adjustments

Precise, hands-on care for joints that have stopped moving well, at Integrative Chiropractic.

Spinal Adjustments

A spinal adjustment is a precise, controlled movement applied to a specific joint — usually with the hands — intended to restore motion where a joint has become restricted. It is the technique most people picture when they think of chiropractic care, and it remains the foundation of what we do.

Joints are built to move, and when one becomes restricted the effects tend to spread: nearby muscles tighten to compensate, movement patterns shift, and discomfort settles in. Adjustments target those restricted joints directly.

At Integrative Chiropractic, every adjustment follows an examination — Dr Lionel Leger checks how each region of your spine is moving and applies care only where the findings call for it. You may hear a small pop as a joint moves; that sound is gas releasing within the joint fluid, not bones cracking, and its presence or absence says little about how well the adjustment worked.

Techniques vary in force and style, from quick, precise movements to low-force instrument-assisted and gentle table-assisted approaches. The right technique depends on your body, your comfort, and your presentation — and your preferences are part of that conversation. Many visits pair adjustments with soft-tissue work and take-home exercises so improvements carry into daily life.
